Outdoor lightning
|
To facilitate free access for wheelchair users, Cariitti Oy has developed various lighting solutions integrated in stone, which can be used to guide and catch the attention of passers-by. These solutions are based on fibre optics. A fibre can be used to conduct light from a single light source to several areas.
The fibre optics projector used as the light source can be shaped like a pollard (Cariitti VP 55) or feature a plug connection (Cariitti VP 45), and it can be mounted on-site as such or hidden in a "projector well". The light for outdoor areas can also be sourced from a projector located indoors. To keep the fibre lengths down, a central position should be selected for the projector. The optic fibres can reach up to 30-40 m in length, but in order to keep the costs down we recommend shorter fibre lengths of 10-20 m.
The optic fibres do no conduct electricity or heat, and they can be installed in the ground as they are; it is, however, preferable to use protective ducting. To the fitting at the end of the fibre, various lighting solutions promoting free access can be connected, such as: various types of lit paving stones, guide lights and bollard lights (square or round).
